The Green Salon will present six programs at Klavierhaus over the next twelve months. Each program will present an artist and speaker. Speaker topics will include greening buildings, advances in biofuels, water as a commodity, renewable energy, clean tech, solar energy, photovoltaic, green investing and more. An invited artist will perform, the speaker will speak, and we will enter into discussion. There will be no power-points as this is a true salon. We seek to create an enriching and enjoyable experience which will reach the larger community through education in matters of energy and environment.
Klavierhaus, located on Piano Row on West 58th Street, is home to museum quality pianos. It is home to the Fazioli Salon, sixty seat performance space which accommodate its many concert friends, some of whom warm up here just before their performances at Carnegie Hall. Sujatri Reisinger and Gabor Reisinger, piano building brothers from Hungary and concerned citizens of the energy and environment, share their professional performance space with us for the gathering of The Green Salon.
Peter C. Fusaro, best-selling author, founder of the Wall Street Green Trading Summit, international keynote speaker and respected thought leader will moderate.
Carmen Cook, co-convener of The Green Salon, a Juilliard graduate, is a cultural entrepreneur with a diverse background in the arts, business and social activism.
The Global Change Foundation is an educational foundation focused on energy and the environmental issues.
Beyond the Green Salon
The world is changing rapidly and knowledge is advancing rapidly, but unfortunately many academic and business disciplines are becoming increasingly specialized and knowledge is siloed. In recognition of this disconnection, the Foundation will reach out beyond any established academic discipline, government institution, trade association or business group to create the catalyst for multidisciplinary approaches to energy and environmental problems. Being situated in New York City is once again an advantage, as New York besides the financial center is also an art and media capitol.
It is our intention to leverage this opportunity and broaden the outreach of New York’s unique human resource base to create a new wave of energy and environmental experimentation. We will utilize the richness of New York’s media and arts to educate and entertain people about the crises that must be met not ignored. We will move to the frontiers of medicine to alert and educate the public of the need to be cognizant of the impacts of infectious disease and climate change, and that human health risks affect everyone. We are, in effect, raising awareness to change human behavior.
We hope that we can assist in the creation of new jobs in emerging technologies and industries so that young people can reap the seeds of a better world. We will work on the frontiers of environmental finance to create the financial tools and know how to implement fundamental change. Using green trading and green finance as means to engage the financial community to help transform urban society into a more sustainable and people friendly environment.
Knowledge created at the foundation has limitless applications. One may be to help create a public/private partnerships to make New York City the nexus of energy and environmental technologies and environmental financial markets in the U.S. and world.
